Respiratory physiotherapy

Respiratory physiotherapy aims to clear the airways, improve pulmonary ventilation and strengthen the respiratory muscles. It is aimed at infants, children, adults and the elderly suffering from acute or chronic respiratory pathologies.

Rehabilitation
“To breathe is to live. To breathe better is to live better.”

Description

Respiratory physiotherapy is a specialised treatment for patients with respiratory problems, whether occasional (bronchiolitis, bronchial congestion, infection) or chronic (asthma, COPD, cystic fibrosis, respiratory failure, etc.).

It is based on specific techniques designed to declutter the bronchial tubes, mobilize the thorax, improve ventilation, stimulate effective coughing and optimise gas exchange. Respiratory training may also include exercises to strengthen the inspiratory and expiratory muscles, as well as support for respiratory education (crisis management, pace of life, resting positions, etc.).

A lung auscultation is systematically carried out at the start of the session to assess respiratory sounds and guide the most appropriate techniques (drainage, controlled ventilation, expiratory work, etc.).

As a physiotherapist, I adapt the treatment to the patient's age, pathology, general condition and progress. Each session is carried out with respect for comfort, breathing rhythm and individual tolerance.
